Pedestrian (70) dies after Cork city crash

A man (70) died in hospital last night after being knocked down in Cork city earlier this week.

A man (70) died in hospital last night after being knocked down in Cork city earlier this week.

The man, who has not been named, was hit by a car on Parnell Bridge on Wednesday morning. He died in Cork University Hospital last night.

Gardaí at Anglesea Street Garda Station are investigating.

Meanwhile, gardaí have named the woman who died when the car she was driving was involved in a collision with a lorry in Clonmel, Co Tipperary on Monday evening. She was Amanda Fahey (19) of Knockagh, Clonmel.

So far this year 57 people have died on the State's roads, an increase of 1 on the same period last year. A total of 16 have died in February so far and four in the last week, according to Garda figures.
