MULTIPLE GRAMMY award winner Paul Simon has been added to the bill for the Live at the Marquee concert series in Cork this summer and is scheduled to perform on July 3rd.
This will be Simon's first concert in Cork. He played a sold-out show in Dublin's Point back in November 2006.
During his distinguished career Simon has been the recipient of many honours and awards, including 12 Grammy awards, three of which ( Bridge Over Troubled Water- with Art Garfunkel, Still Crazy After All These Yearsand Graceland) were for albums of the year.
His philanthropic work includes the co-founding of the Children's Health Fund with Dr Irwin Redlener. The fund donates and staffs mobile medical vans that bring healthcare to poor and indigent children in urban and rural locations around the US.
Promoter Peter Aiken said he was delighted to be bringing a musician of Simon's calibre to Cork.
Comedian Tommy Tiernan was originally scheduled to play the Marquee on July 3rd. He has changed his date to Friday, July 4th, in order to accommodate Paul Simon.
All tickets for Tommy Tiernan on July 3rd are valid for his new date, or can be refunded at point of purchase.
Tickets for the Paul Simon concert will cost about €75 and will go on sale next Friday, April 4th, at 9am from all Ticketmaster outlets nationwide.
