A BARRISTER representing the family of a patient who ran away from a Dublin psychiatric hospital and was later found drowned yesterday called for the hospital's psychiatrist and two other doctors to appear at her inquest.

The body of Ms Maeve Kelly (19), of Balkhill Park, Howth, was recovered near a beach at the rear of St Ita's Hospital, Portrane, Co Dublin, on September 3rd. She had been a voluntary patient after being sent for treatment by her GP.

Mr Sean O hUllachain, representing the Kelly family, halted her inquest at the Dublin County Coroner's Court in Swords and demanded evidence from a hospital psychiatrist and two doctors, as well as her GP, on the medical condition of the deceased woman.

The coroner, Dr Bartley Sheehan, said that following Mr O hUllachain's application he was adjourning the inquest to next Wednesday for the attendance of the hospital's doctors as well as the pathologist in the case.
