A loyalist pastor who was arrested in April 1999, after Russian-made grenades were found in a mission hall he used, has pleaded guilty to possessing similar items in October of the same year.
Yesterday at Belfast Crown Court Clifford Norman Peeples (31), Woodvale Road, Belfast, admitted possessing two grenades and a pipe bomb with intent to endanger life. After his plea of guilty yesterday, Mr Justice Gillen put Peeples back in custody for sentence at the end of the trial of a second defendant, Mr James Fisher. Mr Fisher (35), from Deerpark Road, Belfast, who denies a similar charge, was a passenger in Peeples's car when it was stopped by police.
