Irish chip computer designer Parthus Technologies announced today that Japanese electronics giant Fujitsu has licensed its wireless BlueStream Bluetooth technology for its new range of mobile devices.

Fujitsu has already commenced the deployment of the chips and will target both the cellular phone and automotive markets with initial shipments in early 2002.

Fujitsu is one of the world's leading IT hardware and solutions companies, with over 180,000 employees worldwide and annual revenues of $45 billion.

Commenting on the deal Mr Moriyuki Takamura, general manager, Fujitsu electronics said: "Parthus is clearly a leader in the Bluetooth arena and we believe our leadership position in the wireless semiconductor space makes this an ideal partnership."

The Fujitsu deal is also an industry-first as no other company has announced a qualified Bluetooth product based on independent silicon intellectual property, according to Mr Brian Long, chief executive of Parthus.
