Former world and UK champion John Parrott has pledged his allegiance to the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) - following the lead of fellow ex-Crucible winner John Higgins.
Today Parrott said: "Although I have a very busy schedule, I intend to help World Snooker promote the game and will do my best to support them whenever I can.
"I applaud John Higgins for signing up with World Snooker to promote the game. I like to think the young players coming into the sport will be protected and have the same opportunities as I have had."
Jim McKenzie, the WPBSA managing director, said: "We are delighted that someone of John Parrott's stature is prepared to work with the association to promote the game."
The rival Sportsmaster's Network (TSN) - supported by the likes of Mark Williams, Stephen Hendry and Ken Doherty - are planning a rebel tour next season. But other prominent players are clearly sticking with the governing body.
It was announced this week that Higgins had signed a three-year deal, for an undisclosed sum, with the WPBSA to "promote" the game and their tournaments next season.
The WPBSA decision to award Higgins a contract for promotional work has been heavily criticised by Williams - the reigning world champion and runaway world number one.
