A fire at a hotel in the centre of Paris has killed four people and injured eight.
The blaze started on the ground level of the Hotel du Palais on a street along the River Seine near the Louvre Museum. The flames spread to a stairwell and climbed to the top floor of the seven-story building.
Of the injured, seven suffered from smoke inhalation. One person was in serious condition.
About 150 firefighters rushed to the hotel at about 3 a.m. local time and worked for two hours to control the fire.
