The Parents for Justice group has reacted angrily to a report that the Minister for Health is to scale down the Dunne inquiry into organ retention.
The group - which represents relatives of children whose organs were removed after their death without family consent - withdrew from the Dunne inquiry last month because they were unhappy with progress and because Mr Martin refused to set up a statutory inquiry.
"We wish to remind the Minister that Parents for Justice walked away from the Dunne inquiry in mid October, and question how he can continue with an inquiry without our members being involved," said the group's spokesperson, Ms Fionnuala O'Reilly.
A report in the Sunday Tribunesaid the Government was scaling back the inquiry in an effort to speed up the process and to save money. The report said the Government wants the inquiry to focus on six of seven specific hospitals, rather than about 12 that were the subject of inquiry when it began 18 months ago.
"No matter how the Minister prunes this inquiry it will have no credibility without the participation of the people who have been most directly effected by post-mortem practices in the country," Ms O'Reilly said.
