Jerusalem - A day after President Clinton hosted Mr Benjamin Netanyahu and Mr Yasser Arafat at the White House, and correspondents heralded the imminent achievement of comprehensive peace in the Middle East, the grim cycle of hostilities rolled on unabated in Israel and the West Bank, writes David Horovitz.
Outside Ramallah, north of Jerusalem, a car filled with explosives blew up yesterday, killing a 35-year-old Palestinian and injuring two others. Similar explosions in the past have turned out to be bombs intended for use against Israeli targets detonating prematurely.
In northern Israel, meanwhile, clashes continued for a third day between Israeli Arabs and police over army plans to turn olive groves outside the Arab town of Um al-Fahm into a firing range.
