A suicide bomber who attacked a Pakistani military bus today killed at least five people and wounded 25, police said.

The bomber was apparently on a motorcycle, a police official said, and hit the bus, taking medical corps staff to work, during morning rush hour in the city of Rawalpindi.

It was the seventh suicide bomb blast in Rawalpindi in the past six months.

Violence has intensified in Pakistan in recent months with the army battling militants in the northwest and suicide bomb attacks in towns and cities. These attacks have raised concerns about prospects for the nuclear-armed country in the run-up to February 18th elections.
