Former first minister the Rev Ian Paisley has been moved out of the intensive care unit of the Ulster Hospital in Dundonald in east Belfast and is being treated in its coronary care unit.

An informed source said there was “an improvement” in Dr Paisley’s condition which allowed the move. A family friend also said he was making “steady progress”.

Dr Paisley (85), now Lord Bannside, was admitted to hospital last Sunday week. His wife appealed for privacy “at this difficult time”.
