A CO Meath-based man has sought bail pending the outcome of his Supreme Court appeal against an order for his extradition on charges of attempting to pervert the course of justice in the UK.
The High Court earlier this month made an order for the extradition of Sheffield-born Anthony John Hill (60), with an address at Carrick Street, Kells, on charges of sending a controversial DVD to a judge and jury foreman during a trial relating to bomb attacks in London. Mr Hill has described himself as the “High Priest” of a church called The Way.
Yesterday, when reserving judgment on Mr Hill’s bail application, Mr Justice Michael Peart said he had received several packages. He said this material was believed to have been sent by followers of Mr Hill’s church. Mr Hill is accused of sending copies of a conspiracy theory DVD to the judge and the foreman of a jury at the trial of persons allegedly involved in the 2005 London bombings.
