Madrid - Spain issued visas to 85,526 immigrants over the past five months in a special push to give immigrants legal status, the Secretary of State for Immigration, Mr Enrique Fernandez-Miranda, said yesterday.
The legalisation process, from March to July 31st, applied to foreigners who had been in Spain before June 1999, had held work or residence visas during the three years up to February 2000 or had requested visas before the end of March this year.
