New York's mayor said today the number of people still missing following the terrorist attack on the World Trade Centre is more than 5,000.

Mayor Rudolph Giuliani said 180 people had been confirmed dead, 115 of whom have been identified. The total number of missing has been raised to 5,097.
He added work at the site of the ruined WTC will continue to be called a rescue operation until all hope has faded.
Mr Giuliani said parts of the city has been left looking like a war zone by the attacks.
"The devastation is worse; it's different than what you see on TV. It looks like the scenes we have in our memories from the Second World War.
"It's Sunday and there's still smoke emanating from it. Then you realise there are seven buildings down, two of the tallest in the world. It's impossible to describe."
However, he claimed, the resolve of New Yorkers to get back to normal has not been weakened by the scenes of devastation.
"New Yorkers are much stronger than they were before. They are united and resolved to not let this affect them."
