A feast of more than 100 films kicks off today at the fourth Dublin International Film Festival.
Irish cinema, soccer specials, documentaries and award-winning dramas will feature in the city's cinemas over the next ten days.
Oscar nominee George Clooney's Syriana is just one of the films being shown at the Dublin Film Festival
The festival begins with Paul Mercier's film Studs. The football flick gets its world premiere as the opening film and will be attended by cast members, including Brendan Gleeson ,and the film's writers, director and producers.
Other top films being shown include George Clooney's Syriana, and Oscar-nominated best foreign language films Paradise Nowand Tsotsi.
The Festival Director, The Irish Timesfilm critic Michael Dwyer, said: "Of all the film festivals I have programmed, I have never been so satisfied as I am with the standard of the films secured for this year's Jameson Dublin International Film Festival."
The midweek gala brings another world premiere, Johnny Was, a slick IRA tale by Mark Hammonds, with stars Laurence Kinlan, Patrick Bergin and Vinnie Jones due to attend.
The festival closes with Rebecca Miller's The Ballad of Jack and Rose, which will be attended by Miller and its star, Daniel Day-Lewis.
The festival also showcases some unique films from around the world, including Canada and from American independent film makers.
