The country will be awash with protesters this weekend as anti-war rallies and marches are planned for all the major urban centres.

Met Eireann say temperatures of 10 - 14°C can be expected and the outlook is similar for Sunday.

While the protests are likely to prove the biggest event of the weekend to cause traffic disruption, there is also plenty of sport to entertain (or frustrate) the public.

On Saturday Allianz National League football resumes with matches in Birr, Longford, Tralee, Galway, Kilkenny, Dungiven, Co Derry, Wexford, Mullingar, Clane, Co Kildare, Armagh town, Letterkenny, Omagh and Monaghan town. The games start at 3.30 p.m. bar Killarney where the throw in is at 4 p.m.

And on the subject of Co Clare, the peace vigil at Shannon will resume tomorrow. They will be joined on Sunday by some intrepid anti-war protestors who this evening set out from Eyre Square in Galway city to walk to Shannon Airport. They will be interested to know that overnight temperatures will be low tonight an tomorrow night - falling to 2&DegC. Hopefully they won't be spending thir stop off time in Gort, Co Galway, and Ennis under the stars. They hope to arrive in Shannon about 4 p.m.

Demonstrations against the war will also be held in Belfast, Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway, Derry and Waterford.

Those using the Southwest-Dublin route should be aware of racing at the Curragh on Sunday.
