Mihaela Porumbaru, the five-year-old Romanian girl at the centre of a custody battle, begins medical tests in an Irish hospital today. Last night her Irish foster mother, Mrs Briege Hughes, confirmed the girl is being admitted today to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.
She will undergo tests on her kidneys and renal system, Mrs Hughes hopes she may get a consultation with a paediatric neurosurgeon ahead of her scheduled appointment on September 13th.
The costs of whatever care she requires will be borne by the Frank Hughes Memorial Foundation, the registered charity that organised the visits to Ireland for Mihaela and other Romanian orphans.
