Beijing - More than 45 second World War bombs have been discovered on the site of the New Walt Disney theme park in Hong Kong since last October, writes Miriam Donohoe, Asia Correspondent.
The bombs were uncovered during dredging in the East Lamma Channel off the south-west coast of Hong Kong island where the theme park is being developed.
Two of the bombs were uncovered by workers at the weekend. A spokesman for the Hong Kong ordnance disposal bureau said the region was a major battle zone during the war and a large number of shells would be expected on the seabed.
The Disney amusement park, due to open in 2005, will be built on 310 acres of reclaimed land in the bay.
The dredging area was a former munitions dumping ground for the British army.
