The Building and Allied Trades Union has secured a High Court order restraining a former member from picketing the homes of two of its officers.
The union obtained the order against Mr John O'Connell of Annagh, Lisnagry, Co Limerick. He was prohibited from watching or besetting the homes of two BATU officers - Mr Edward Morris of Kilkenny and Mr Patrick O'Shaughnessy, Navan Road, Dublin. He was also ordered to send any correspondence to the union's offices and not to the homes of any of its officials.
The court was told Mr O'Connell was seeking to rejoin the union by applying to it directly through its Dublin office when, according to the union's rules, any application must be made through the local branch.
