The Orange Order has extended sympathy to Spain over the murder of a young politician by ETA Basque separatists.
"We would not pretend to understand the politics of the Iberian peninsula and have no desire to interfere, but we recognise that murder is murder," the order's ruling body said. The statement said the council, which is holding a meeting of some 100 representatives from countries that have Orange branches, had "offered its condolences to the family of the Conservative Councillor, Miguel Angel Blanco, murdered in Spain, and the Spanish people".
