The Orange Order has been given permission to parade past the nationalist Ardoyne area in north Belfast this Friday, July 12th. It was the scene of serious rioting on the Twelfth last year.

The Parades Commission has imposed some conditions on the morning and evening parades past the Ardoyne shops on the Crumlin Road, which is the flashpoint area near loyalist Glenbryn and the Catholic Holy Cross school.

Bands are banned from playing music when passing the Ardoyne shops in the morning and evening parades. Supporters are also banned from accompanying the parade on the morning march.

The Commission has also allowed morning and evening marches to proceed through the nationalist Whiterock area of west Belfast on the Twelfth and a march passing a nationalist part of Springfield Road in west Belfast,
