A 14-year-old boy who hanged himself with a belt from the shower unit in the family bathroom may have been involved in a prank or experiment which went wrong, Dublin City Coroner's Court heard yesterday.
The boy was found by his mother and a neighbour on September 6th last. Another neighbour, who was trained in first-aid, administered CPR and a pulse was restored. The boy was taken to Tallaght Hospital and then to Our Lady's Hospital, Crumlin, but died on September 7th.
A post-mortem examination showed that death was caused by asphyxia due to hanging. An open verdict was recorded.
