At least person died and several were injured when a coach carrying foreign tourists crashed in the Spanish Mediterranean region of Alicante this evening, police said.
"At the moment we can only confirm one death and various injured, nothing else. We don't know their nationalities but they were foreign," a spokesman for Spain's Civil Guard in Alicante said.
According to the online edition of the leading daily El Mundo, the coach carrying 53 elderly foreign passengers crashed with an overturned truck near the Terra Mitica theme park just outside the tourist resort of Benidorm.
A car then crashed in to the coach, it said.
The truck driver died in the accident after his vehicle overturned near a bend in the road. A total of 46 people were hurt, four seriously, with 29 taken rushed to hospital, El Mundo reported.
Nineteen Spanish pensioners died in November when their coach overturned in southern Spain.
