An earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale jolted Athens and central Greece today but caused no damage or injuries.
The Athens Geodynamic Institute said the tremor had its epicentre 67 kilometres from the Greek capital and was also felt on the island of Evia.
"There has been seismic activity in the area since last summer, it has ranged between 4.0-4.5 on the Richter scale," said seismologist Mr Gerassimos Houliaras at the Athens Geodynamic Institute.
Police said they had no reports of injuries or damage to buildings or any of the facilities for the Olympics.
