The oldest woman in the State has died overnight at her home in Portlaw, Co Waterford.
Rita Duffy who up to recently volunteered with her local Tidy Towns committee, was born in Aglish, Co Waterford, in 1897 and would have been 106 in February.
She outlived her seven sisters and two brothers and had been a widow for almost 60 years.
She is survived by her son Pat and daughter Eileen Coffey, nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Mr Duffy will be buried tomorrow at Aglish cemetery following requiem mass at St Patrick's church in Portlaw.
