A man convicted of kidnapping an 84-year-old woman, raping her and setting her on fire was executed by lethal injection, an Oklahoma state prisons spokesman said.
The execution of Loyd Winford Lafevers (35) on Tuesday was Oklahoma's 37th since it resumed executions in 1990 and the last of seven executions in January.
Lafevers was convicted along with Randall Cannon of the 1985 murder of Ms Addie Hawley, who was kidnapped from her home in Oklahoma City, driven in a car boot to a remote area, raped, beaten and set on fire. Cannon is also on death row.
A federal court granted Lafevers a stay of execution last November so that a bloodstain could be tested for DNA matching the victim's. When the blood did not match the victim or either defendant, the Oklahoma State Court of Criminal Appeals ruled the evidence was irrelevant and ordered a new execution date to be set.
