The Dáil adjourned yesterday, and the Seanad is due to finish business in Leinster House this afternoon.

Seanad leader Mary O'Rourke will take the Order of Business in the morning before Senators debate legislation including the Social Welfare Bill 2006.

The Dáil had been due to resume on January 31st, but it will now be recalled for a special debate on the Health Bill 2006 a week earlier.

The Oireachtas stressed yesterday that TDs will be busily working in their constituencies and on all-party committees over the holiday period.

The Dáil sat for a total of 96 days and the Seanad for 81 days during 2006.

Up to 67 Bills were published during the year, of which 33 have been enacted. A further eight expected to become law within the coming week.
