An oil laundering plant in Rassan, Co Louth which had the capacity to produce up to 250,000 litres of laundered oil each week was raided by Officers from Revenues Enforcement Division today.
In a statement the division said officers seized more than 50,000 litres of oil along with five oil tankers and a range of equipment used in the operation.
In follow-up operations in the Louth/Monaghan area seven more premises were visited and samples of oil were taken for examination. Another oil tanker was seized from one of these premises.
The statement said investigations are continuing.
