Enterprise Oil has refused to attend the Labour Relations Commission to discuss a dispute with SIPTU over crewing on offshore oil rigs. Mr Padraig Campbell of SIPTU's national offshore committee said it was a "disgrace that a company given a marvellous tax deal and the right to exploit Ireland's oil and gas practically free, would snub the LRC." An Enterprise Oil spokesman said it had written to the LRC and to the Minister of State for Labour Affairs, Mr Tom Kitt, explaining the company's position. Its rig off Mayo was already fully crewed by EU nationals to whom it had contractual obligations.
