Irish authorities have been in contact with Spanish authorities after reports suggested an Irish link with suspected terrorists arrested in Spain, a Garda spokesman has confirmed.
Six members of a suspected terrorist cell who are believed to be linked to Osama bin Laden were arrested in Spain yesterday.
Two pages from the diary of one of the men arrested had clear references to Ireland, it has been reported today.
One page contained drawings of matchstick men holding the Irish, British and Spanish flags; the second connects Ireland by arrows to a number of European cities, according to the report.
