Construction work at the Mater hospital in Dublin was suspended yesterday as a result of an official dispute between two workers and a contractor on the site.
The trade union Unite said the site had closed as 450 trade union members had supported two colleagues who were involved in the dispute with the contractor, Architectural Aluminium Limited.
Unite said pickets would be placed at the hospital site again today and that the dispute could extend to the campus at UCD, where work on a new sports facility could be affected.
