The Special Criminal Court yesterday fixed a new date in October for the trial of a Dublin man accused of murdering the journalist, Veronica Guerin. Mr Paul Ward (34), a native of Windmill Park, Crumlin, with an address at Walkinstown Road, Dublin, is accused of the murder of Veronica Guerin at Naas Road, Clondalkin, Co Dublin, on June 26th, 1996.
His trial was adjourned last January after the State refused to allow defence lawyers access to certain Garda documents and a new date was fixed for June 10th. October 6th as the new date after hearing that the Supreme Court will hear an appeal in relation to the case on July 8th.
