Westmeath senior football manager Paidi O'Se opened his Midlands' account with a 1-15 to 1-12 extra-time victory over Louth in Mullingar this afternoon.
The Lake County were pushed to the wire by Val Andrew's spirited Louth side, but showed no little class to pull away. A crucial goal, scored in the first half of extra time, was enough to secure a first victory for O'Se before a large O'Byrne Cup attendance in Cusack Park.
