Fianna Fail spokeswoman on employment Ms Mary O'Rourke has called for clarification on talks Government Ministers had with Packard Electric.
The Dublin company has said it is facing a reduction in demand for products and redundancies are likely. The deputy leader of Fianna Fail said confusion had surrounded Packard deals in the past, especially last June when three versions of a final deal appeared to exist.
"Information was also with held by the Government from the Packard workforce and the Dail. It would be very unfortunate and grave for the company if there was to be a repeat of such developments this time, she said. Reports drawn up last year had charted a future for the company which should be implemented.
