David O'Leary tonight claimed Leeds United had already lined up his successor at Elland Road following his shock sacking today.

O'Leary revealed that he had no idea he was going to get the axe when he met Leeds chairman Pete Ridsdale this morning.

A dejected O'Leary, speaking outside his Harrogate home, claimed his knew who he successor at Elland Road would be.

O'Leary, whose four-year reign as Leeds boss ended abruptly today, told Sky Sports News, said: "I went in (to the club) this morning thinking I've got my holiday during which to organise things for next season and the chairman told me 'you've got the sack.'

The Irishman, who said he had not been given a reason for his dismissal during this morning's meeting, added: "I think I know who has got the job. It's already in place".
