A dispute has broken out among the Greens in Munster over who should run in the June 11th Euro elections. At a convention in Mallow two weeks ago the Waterford candidate was selected. The other contestant, Cork's Dan Boyle, who has several campaigns behind him, challenged the outcome on the grounds that the procedure was incorrect in allowing group votes instead of individual delegate votes. The party's rules and procedure committee has been investigating and the executive meets in Dublin this morning to arbitrate. John Gormley TD says the selection might be overturned. Meanwhile, there is some disquiet among the eco warriors that a statement was issued claiming victory for the candidate originally selected despite the challenge already in motion. And the candidate's name? Ben Nutty.
