Father Ted worshippers had better brace themselves this weekend as storm force winds whipping all coastal areas today head west.
The week-long Ted Fest, marking the 10th anniversary of the filming of the last episode of the hugely successful comedy series, has brought fun and frivolous shenanigans to Kilfenora village in Co Clare this week.
But with the action set to move tomorrow to Inis Mór off the Galway coast for the grand finale of celebrations, Fr Ted disciples - eagerly awaiting the Craggy Island World Cup and Buckaroo speed dating - will have their sense of humour firmly tested as gale force winds blow in. Careful now.
Met Éireann says southwesterly gales will gradually veer west and northwest this afternoon with winds, gusting from 80 to 120km/h in exposed areas, expected to reach storm force on coasts.
It will be bright and dry on Saturday morning with moderate westerly winds, but again these will pick up to storm force during the day. Sunday will also be bright but still quite breezy with some sun and showers.
The high winds are also affecting ferry crossings to and from the United Kingdom.
Irish Ferries has cancelled all its Jonathan Swiftsailings today from Dublin to Holyhead due to poor weather conditions, but is accommodating passengers on the Cruise Ferry crossing tonight at 8.55pm.
All Stena Line services are expected to sail on schedule today.
On the roads, Meath commuters are advised to watch out for roadworks on the R155 Ratoath/Fairyhouse road approaching the N3 Fairyhouse Cross - in place until March 6th.
AA Roadwatch also warns of delays on the N51 Athboy road out of the town due to roadworks.
In Galway, Connacht play Leinster in the Magners League at the Galway Sports Ground on College Road at 7.30pm. Motorists can expect delays in the city centre before and after the game.
