Export shipments of Northern Ireland beef are to begin again in the autumn, following the lifting of the BSE export ban from the whole of the UK from this week. The North will now be following, rather than leading, the rest of the UK back into export markets.
Northern Ireland's chief veterinary officer, Dr Bob McCracken, is hoping that the cattle tracing computer will be up to speed for the autumn. "September is still the target date for all those changes," he said.
