There will no concert at Slane Castle this year but fans have been told that “2013 will be busy”. Castle owner Lord Henry Mountcharles used Facebook and Twitter yesterday morning to break the news that “there will be no Slane this year, but 2013 will be busy”.
“The only comment I have,” he added, “is there is very serious interest in Slane for next year.”
A precedent for a second concert in the same year was set in 2001 when U2 played sell-out concerts two weekends in a row.
Traditionally the Slane concert is held towards the end of August and before the new academic year begins.

It is known in the music industry that he has turned down some acts. “I never go with a show unless I feel comfortable with the act,” he has said.
