A Co Cork farmer jailed for three years after pleading guilty to injecting cattle slurry into his animals in order to get a slaughter grant from the Department of Agriculture was refused bail by the Court of Criminal Appeal yesterday pending his appeal against severity of sentence.
Cornelius Keane (37), of Bawnbue, Drimoleague, Co Cork, pleaded guilty in Cork Circuit Criminal Court earlier this month to four sample charges of injecting slurry into his cattle.
