Hopes of resolving the strike which threatens to close CocaCola's Drogheda plant rose last night after the Labour Court invited both sides to attend talks. So far 66 of the 265 workers have been laid off because of the strike by 16 craftworkers. The entire workforce is expected to be laid off if the two-week strike continues.
Both the company and the union representing the craftworkers, the Technical Engineering and Electrical Union, have said they will attend the Labour Court. It is expected to hear the case early next week. Meanwhile, the TEEU is to maintain its pickets on the plant.
