A new International Centre for Educational and Learning Technologies (ICELT) was opened today at the National College of Ireland (NCI)  in Dublin's IFSC.

The centre will support research and development in e-learning and will provide "incubation units" for start-up businesses.

The centre, whose advisory committee is chaired by Mr Eoin O'Driscoll, chairman of the Enterprise Strategy Group, will become the centre for e-learning industry in Ireland and will work with the National College of Ireland to develop a strong research programme for national and multinational corporations.

ICELT is already home to a number of start-up companies including Campus IT, OD Design, Estuary Technologies, Benchmark, Release, ISOLEARN, Eurocollege, EUSA and Luna Technologies.
