Foxconn Technology Group, maker of Apple iPads and Sony game machines, said a female worker died in hospital 10 hours after being found injured near a company dormitory in eastern China.

The 22-year-old worker in Foxconn's plastic materials packaging department was found at 3am local time on August 4th and was taken to hospital.

She joined the company on March 22nd, Foxconn said, neither specifying whether the death was deemed a suicide nor saying where the incident occurred.

"An investigation into all the facts and the cause of that tragedy is being carried out by local authorities and Foxconn is cooperating fully," the company said.

The China Business News reported on its yicai.com website reported that a female worker jumped from her dormitory and fell into a security net around the building, citing unidentified Foxconn workers.

Foxconn began putting up nets around its factories after at least 10 workers committed suicide this year. Yesterday's death, if confirmed as a suicide, would be the first since May, when founder and chairman Terry Gou increased pay and promised to review working conditions, blaming personal problems for most of the deaths.
