A new private home-care company has announced it is recruiting 20 carers and is aiming to create 30 part-time and full-time jobs over the next 12 months.

Home Care Plus aims to service what it says is a growing demand for care in the home for elderly or unwell people who want to remain independent in their homes.

Home Care Plus says the new posts will come initially in the Leinster region during its first year of operation. It intends to expand nationwide by 2011.

The company is led by Dublin businessman Michael Harty and Medical Director Dr Michael O’Brien.

Commenting on the launch, Mr Harty said: “We have been developing this company for a considerable time and have done extensive research internationally on the best model for delivering this highly personal service."

The company's carers provide non-medical assistance in terms of home help, personal care and live-in care. Home Care Plus services can be accessed in units from one hour per day to 24 hour live-in care, on a temporary or long-term basis.
