The trial of Mrs Catherine Nevin, who is accused of murdering her husband, continues today after legal argument took up much of yesterday's sitting in the Central Criminal Court.

One of the three main prosecution witnesses, Mr William McClean, was briefly recalled to answer defence questions.

Mrs Nevin (48) has denied the murder of her husband, Mr Tom Nevin (54), on March 19th, 1996, in their home at Jack White's Inn, Ballin apark, Co Wicklow.

She has also pleaded not guilty to charges that she solicited Mr John Jones, Mr Gerry Heapes and Mr William McClean to murder her husband.

Mr McClean, of Harold's Cross Road, Dublin, was cross-examined by Mr Paul Burns, defending. Mr Burns asked Mr McClean if he recalled telling the jury that Mrs Nevin introduced him to her husband, Tom. "She probably would have, yes," said Mr McClean.

Mr Burns put it to him that, in fact, it was Mr Nevin who introduced him to Mrs Nevin. Mr McClean said he did not agree. He disagreed also that when he met Mrs Nevin for the first time in the Red Cow Inn, she was with her husband.
