THE wife of the Israeli Prime Minister, Mrs Sara Netanyahu, stopped a television interview for 30 minutes after it touched on her `husband's extramarital affair', a witness said yesterday.
She repeatedly got out of her chair, she shouted at the interviewer. She was very angry, a witness at Israel's Channel One Television said.
The witness, who asked not to be identified, said the taping of the interview on Wednesday was halted for 30 minutes after Mrs Netanyahu objected to the questions being posed. The interview, due to be broadcast on Sunday, resumed only after she was assured her outburst would be deleted.
Witnesses told the Yedioth Ahronoth daily, Mrs Netanyahu became angry 20 minutes into the interview when asked if she tried to block the appointment of a woman cabinet minister on suspicion she was romantically involved with Mr Benjamin Netaayahu.
"That's an unfair question," Mrs Netanyahu said. Her anger grew after a question about what is known in Israel as "the videotape affair", Mr Netanyahu's admission of adultery before becoming Prime Minister.
Meanwhile, Israel's President yesterday urged Mr Netanyahu's cabinet to stop squabbling
"I have no doubt the peace process is stuck and we are in a serious crisis," President Ezer Weizman (73), whose job is largely ceremonial, told the newspaper, Yedioth Ahronoth.
