Radovan Karadzic - wanted for war crimes

Darko Mrdja’s arrest took place in the northwest Bosnian town of Prijedor, according to the Bosnian Serb interior ministry spokesman, Mr Zoran Glusac.

A local police official was quoted by Bosnian radio as saying that Mr Mrdja was wanted by the UN tribunal for war crimes committed in the central Vlasica region during the 1992-95 war.

The international tribunal is seeking 17 publicly indicted suspects, of whom the most wanted are former Bosnian Serb war time leader Radovan Karadzic and his military commander General Ratko Mladic. AFP
