A warriors run, a fleadh and culture festival form part of this weekend's events with music and art dominating around the country.
The Festival of World Cultures in Dún Laoghaire, Co Dublin, will feature 150 live gigs by 800 musicians and artists.
Among the musical acts appearing are Tiken Jah, Sa Dinding, Ethiopiques and Yungchen Lhamo. Other highlights include soap-making, basket-making and Japanese flower-arranging workshops in the Royal Marine Hotel, and a cool earth environmental fair in the County Hall.
In Dunmore East, Co Waterford, the Guinness International Bluegrass festival takes place and the village of Terryglass on the northern shores of Lough Derg hosts an arts festival with storytelling workshops, DJ workshops, bread making and stone carving demonstrations.
The Bansha Festival is on in Co Tipperary this weekend and highlights include helicopter rides, a kiddies disco and the singing pubs finals. The Queen of the Galtees contest will take place on Sunday along with an air display and a free open air concert with Bagatelle.
The Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann continues in Tullamore with more than 200,000 people expected to attend. Over 10,000 competitors will be taking part in 130 competitions at the event, which will include set céilís in the Tullamore Court Hotel tomorrow and Sunday. Motorists passing through the town will be diverted via the Ring Road for all routes.
The Warriors Run will take place in Sligo on Sunday, with approximately 400 runners expected to take part in the 15km road and hill race. Runners will be greeted with a 700 foot climb on loose gravel and grass paths half way through the race, as well as an equally daunting downhill run, slowing even the most professional athletes to a walking pace.
Throw in at the All Ireland Senior football semi-final between Cork and Kerry in Croke Park this Sunday is at 3.30pm and motorists are advised to expect heavy delays on the N21 and M7/N7 throughout the morning. Fans planning to use the Luas Park N' Ride are reminded that the Red Cow Park & Ride will be closed.
Traffic diversions will also be in place in the Phoenix Park on Sunday for the Gatorade Dublin City Triathlon. Over 650 participants will be partaking in the competition from the Garda Boat Club, with motorists advised to expect major delays. Chapelizod Rd will be closed to all traffic except buses and local traffic for the event.
Sunday's weather will begin dry and bright, with rain and drizzle moving eastwards in the afternoon and evening. The overall amounts of rain will be small according to Met Éireann.
