A JUDGE has given the State more time to get the Director of Public Prosecutions’ directions in the case of a 33-year-old Dublin man accused of murdering Romanian teenager Marioara Rostas who went missing in 2008.
However, Judge John Lindsay said at Cloverhill District Court yesterday that “time is running and something needs to happen”.
The body of the 18-year-old woman, who disappeared from Dublin city centre four years ago, was found following a 13-day search in January in the Wicklow Mountains. Her semi-decomposed remains were discovered in a shallow grave at Kippure, near Manor Kilbride.
She was last seen alive by her 15-year-old brother on January 6th, 2008, as she was getting into a car, while they were out begging on Lombard Street in Dublin’s south inner city.
On April 5th last, Alan Wilson, of New Street Gardens, Dublin 8, was remanded in custody after he was charged with her murder at Brabazon Street in the south inner city on January 8, 2008. Now the case has been adjourned further after the prosecution said they needed more time. There had been 192 interviews and more than 300 statements were taken.
A further report has been sent to the deputy DPP. Directions are expected in a couple of days and after that it should take two weeks for the book of evidence to be ready, the judge was told.
Judge Lindsay granted the State a two-week adjournment.
