GARDA WITNESSES have told the trial of two Wicklow men accused of murdering a French busker at his Bray home that they seized a shoe box and a diary during searches of the men’s homes.
Declan Sheridan (25), of Sugarloaf View, Sea Road, Kilcoole, and James O’Connor (27), of Kilbridge Grove, Bray, have both denied murdering Charles Sinapayen at Richmond Hill in June two years ago.
The 33-year-old musician and juggler was asleep in bed next to his girlfriend Mary Kinlan when he was shot through the bedroom window in the early hours of May 29th, 2009.
He sustained a gunshot wound to the side of his face which lacerated his brain and fractured his skull.
Mr Sinapayen died two days later in Beaumont Hospital.
Ms Kinlan, who had taken sleeping tablets, slept through the shooting, and only awoke when gardaí broke open the door and took her from the bed.
They had been alerted to the scene by neighbours who heard the shots.
The incident was captured on CCTV, and the jury has viewed black and white footage which shows two men standing outside Mr Sinapayen’s apartment door at 1.20am on May 29th, 2009.
After about three minutes they walk to the bedroom window, where an object is pointed at the window and there is a brief flash. The men then walk away from the apartment.
The case resumes today before Mr Justice Paul Carney.
